Worship

I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go to the house of the Lord."  Psalm 122:1

Authentic is a word that is thrown around a lot these days. For us it means we know who we are and aren't trying to pass our selves off as something else. What you find here is real. We are a diverse congregation and each person adds to the richness of worship. You may have some questions for us before you visit us.  Here are some things you may be wondering about:

Would I be welcome in your church?
Yes! We have a place for you. In our church people from all walks of life are important members of the body and serve.  You will find at FBC a mix of backgrounds socially, economically, educationally, and ethnically.  Some grew up in church and others have only been in church recently.  All are welcome!

What should I wear at the church?
Again, you will find a mix at FBC.  You will see some people in dresses and suits. You will find others wearing jeans and slacks. However, most people dress casual.  You will usually see the pastor wearing a jacket without a tie or a shirt and tie without the jacket.  Come as you are.  We believe that giving God your best is not reflected by your clothing near as much as it is your heart.

What Bible does the pastor preach from?
Dr. John preaches from the New American Standard. However, bring the Bible you have and you'll be just fine.  If you happen to not bring one, there are Bibles available in the pews.  In fact, if you don't have a copy of God's word of your own, please let us know and we'll provide you with one to keep.

What is your worship style?
We understand some enjoy traditional hymns.  Others are more familiar with contemporary praise songs. We understand this exciting tension.  Yes, we have a piano and organ that are both beautifully utilized.  We are seeking to embrace the diversity by worshiping including God honoring selections of different styles. After all, personal preference is not the issue, exalting God is.  We can worship in various styles and be true to who we are.
